Final Year Project

Project Title

Women Social Media Needs and Gendered Social Capital: A Qualitative Study of Women Career Planning

Description

The study attempts to explore women's voices about gendered social capital in their career planning journey at the graduate level. It will further study women's online social capital in the traditionally patriarchal society of Pakistan and measure the impact of social media needs with respect to establishing and bridging networks towards developing a career. Furthermore, the inadequate/incorrect information from informal networks hinders women's chances of opportunities and success. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the role of their informal networks i.e., social capital in disseminating the information towards their career planning journey. The expected outcome of this research is to find that family and close relations play a vital role in Pakistani women's lives by being deciding agents whether they pursue a career or not.
